Rear Projection Television

How to Choose and Buy a Rear Projection Television

There are many Rear Projection televisions on the market and sometimes it can be difficult to know which one to choose. Here are some hints and tips on what to look out for when choosing and buying a Rear Projection TV.

Choosing a Rear Projection TV - Check How Much Space You Have

Some rear projection televisions have very large cabinets. Therefore it’s wise to not only measure out the space required for it in your living room, but also to make sure that there is room to manoeuvre the unit through the rooms, doors and corridors required to get it to its destination.

Make Sure It’s HD-Ready

Try to get a rear projection television fitted with a HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) or a HDCP (High-Bandwidth Digital Protection)-compliant DVI input. This will enable your TV to be fully compliant with HDTV tuners and future HD-DVD players.

Check the Rear Projection TV's Signal-Processing Ability

Make sure that the TV can handle poor signals from satellite and cable sources. It is good to have a set that can process all types of signal well.

Test the unit to see whether it can project black properly (using a dimly lit night scene) and render detail in almost complete darkness.
