How do Rear Projection TVs work?

Many TVs measuring more than 40 inches across the diagonal are rear projection models. An image is beamed from an internal projector and is directed by lenses and mirrors to the inside surface of the screen. Most of these models are CRT-based but LCD versions are now becoming available.
