How to Choose and Buy a TV Combi/Combo

There are a large number of TV Combis on the market and sometimes it can be difficult to know which one to choose. Here are some hints and tips on what to look out for when choosing and buying a Combination TV.

Choosing a TV Combi – DVD or VCR?

The first decision you will need to make when choosing a TV Combi is whether you want a TV/DVD Combi or whether you want to be able to play videos as well, in which case you will need a TV/DVD/VCR Combi.

Type of Combo TV

You also need to decide whether you want a traditional CRT TV Combi or a TV Combo with an LCD screen. As well as having slimmer screens, LCD TV Combis also often have a built-in tuner. This makes them ideal for smaller rooms where you need clutter to be kept to a minimum because you don’t need an external tuner.

Size of TV Combis

Make sure that you choose the right size model for the room in which it will be used in.

Digital Signals

If you are choosing a model with Freeview capability, make sure that your area can receive digital TV signals.

Check the SCART sockets of the TV DVD VCR Combo

Many Combination Televisions come with one or more SCART sockets, making connecting to games consoles easy work. Check the product description to make sure that the model you are considering has enough SCART sockets for your needs.

How to Choose a TV Combi – Check the Guarantee

Make sure that you are happy with the guarantee offered. If you are buying an LCD TV Combi, check to see how long the backlight is guaranteed for – you may want to extend your guarantee.
