Blu-ray DVD Players – The Future of Home Entertainment

With the emergence of high definition technology and HDTV sets appearing in more and more households, it’s no surprise that a disc player that makes the most of this new technology has now been launched.

A Blu-ray disc player will ensure that your brand new HDTV set is being used to its fullest capacity thanks to the high definition output of the Blu-ray disc. The Blu-ray disc, thanks to its focused blue-laser technology, can store in the region of 25GB of data. This is around five times the amount of storage space that a standard CD or DVD can offer, meaning that High Definition can be brought to the small screen in movie or gaming form.

Currently the range of Blu-ray disc players is limited but with all of the major players in the electronics field vocal in their backing of this new technology, the number of players on the market is growing rapidly. You will need an HD-ready TV to be able to get full value from the Blu-ray disc player’s High Definition output.

Samsung offers a superb model, the Samsung BD-P1000 Blu-ray Disc Player which is available through Amazon and John Lewis. This particular model is typical of the new range of Blu-ray disc players. It’s stylish, easy to use and, as it’s compatible with many formats including BD-ROM, BD-RE, BD-R, DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM, DVD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, CD, CD-R and CD-RW, your old DVD collection will not become redundant overnight.

Panasonic also offers a Blu-ray disc player, the DMP-BD10. This was one of the first Blu-ray disc players to be launched worldwide and, like the Samsung BD-P1000, is compatible with a range of disc and file formats, making it extremely versatile.

Currently Blu-ray disc players are fairly expensive, but as they become more popular, they’re also likely to become h more affordable in the near future.
